Route des Grandes Alpes Cycle Ride
The idea of this wonder route was conceived by the Touring Club Le France in 1903, with the completion of the Col d’Iseran the Route des Grandes Alpes was opened in 1937.
Described as the “world’s most beautiful road” the Route des Grandes Alpes stretches from the shores of beautiful Lake Geneva, the largest lake in Western Europe, to the bustling resort of Menton on the Côte d’Azur, crossing many of the highest, and most well-known alpine cols along the way.
This once in a lifetime cycling challenge is a must-do for any keen cyclist’s, but it’s not really suited for beginners.

Legendary Mountain Road
The Route des Grandes Alpes Cycle Ride will include 8 nights accommodation, and 7 days of cycling. During the trip you will cross 16 major mountain passes and climb over 17500m, covering a total distance of 703km.
Each day you will get to ride in spectacular scenery whilst conquering some of the highest and most famous cols like Col de la Colombiere, Cormet de Roselend, Col d’Iseran, Col du Galibier, Col d’Iozard, Col de Vars, Crime de la Bonnette, just name but a few.
Fully Supported Rides
The Route des Grandes Alpes Cycle Ride will be fully supported by knowledgeable guides and a support vehicle.
The support vehicle will carry energy bars, fresh water and energy drinks to help keep your performance levels to their maximum. This vehicle will also carry a range of spare parts and tools in order to assist with any minor mechanical problems.

DAY 1 – Meet at Geneva Airport, transfer to Hotel, Assemble Bikes
DAY 2 – Geneva to Megeve – Col de la Colombiere (1613m), Col des Aravis (1487m)
DAY 3 – Megeve to Val d’Isere – Col des Saisies (1654m), Cormet de Roselend (1968m)
DAY 4 – Val d’Isere – Valloire – Col d’Iseran (2764m), Col de la Telegraphe (1566m)
DAY 5 – Valloire – Barcelonnette – Col du Galibier (2642m), Col d’Izoard (2360m), Col de Vars (2108m)
DAY 6 – Barcelonnette – Isola 2000 – Cime de la Bonette (2802m), Col de la Lombarde (2351m)
Day 7 – Isola 2000 – Menton – Col Saint-Martin (1500m), Col de Turini (1607m)

The Route des Grandes Alpes Cycle Ride will involve some long days in the saddle, each day averaging around 100km and 2400m of climbing so a good level of fitness is required. Being in good physical condition will result in a more enjoyable holiday, for this reason we recommend partaking in a achievable fitness program prior to your cycling holiday.
Obviously, the best way to prepare is to get out on your bike and include some long rides in hilly terrain. However, swimming, running and circuit training are also good ways to develop your aerobic fitness and stamina.
You will be accommodated on a shared room basis whilst on the Route des Grandes Alpes Cycle Ride. Individuals travelling alone will be paired up with someone of the same gender. If there is no one of the same gender we will provide you with a single room but there will be a single supplement charge.
If you would prefer a room to yourself then a single supplement charge will be added, please contact us for prices. Please note this option is only available subject to availability.

Therefore, it is mandatory that you have Personal Injury Insurance that covers you in the event of an accident whilst on a cycling holiday.
